Gay romance where it should be - alongside mainstream

March 24th, 2011 (02:13 pm)

Ages ago Alex Beecroft and I had a mad idea. We did an 'interview' with each other, discussing gay historical romance, then sent off a copy to the editor for Romance Matters, which is the Romantic Novelists' Association magazine. Well, stap me vitals, it's in the Spring issue.

Middle of the mag, nice one page spread, listed in the contents under "Gay Romance, what is it like writing about the love that dares not speak its name? Two writers discuss". There's even the words Gay Fiction as a small feature on the front cover.

Hope you enjoy it - we were on our best behaviour. There's a longer version we must post sometime.

Nice one! I wish I could read the text, seeing as how I'm not allowed to join the RNA until I have a novel published. One day, though...

You can join as soon as you have a contract for a novel - I asked, and they let me in! :)

Thank you. We're trying to do our bit. Do they have a letters section? You could write to the mag and say how much you enjoyed the article. :)

*flicks through Winter mag* Apparently not - that's a shame.

Slightly off tangent - you do notify them of your new releases for the blog, don't you?

*blushes* I haven't actually found the blog yet...
Is it the ROMNA thing that's mentioned in the mag?

The blog links from the website. I think ROMNA is like a yahoo group. I e-mailed today to see if I could join it.

D'oh! *finally scrolls down far enough to find the link*
Curse these people who hide their links in full view on the home page like that! Yes, I think I shall e-mail to try and join ROMNA too.

How did you get listed in the A-Z of authors, btw?
I have probably missed the bleedin' obvious again here...

It was when they were revising the site, so it may have changed. Maybe I found a contact on that list inside Romance Matters or followed a link on the website?

Congratulations, it's great to see gay romance acknowledged and so well in the magazine.
