Been going round cemeteries again
I'm indebted to
stevie_carroll for a pamphlet about war graves which informed me about the Hollybrook Memorial, which is less than ten minutes drive from where I've lived the last twenty years and I hadn't realised.
It's not as if it's small scale (1900 men remembered there, including Kitchener himself) and many of them are from the Commonwealth, like these guys from the Soth African Labour Corps who died when their troop transport went down following a collision.
It was a lovely day today, just right for taking some stunning pics:
but I rather liked this, a single anemone growing among the paving stones, a wonderful symbol of new life (and the colour of Jonty's eyes...)
